valentine's cards, fourth-grade style9:28:00 AM
Sick of me/Valentine's day yet? No?!? Then read on!
(for the rest of you, normal programming will resume tomorrow, I promise)
Well, I don't care if I am 27 years old. I still make Valentine's day cards and I'm not ashamed!
To make your own holiday card, all you really need is an A4 sized piece of paper and an envelope (if desired). A marker, a steady hand, and done.
To make an awesome holiday card, you'll to go full grandma/craft nerd! My personal stash includes:
- Washi tape
- Watercolors (and watercolor paper, if using)
- White paint pen
- Assortment of sharpies
Next, you need some inspiration. As with most things, I turn to Pinterest. Why agonize over what to write/draw/paint when you can have a fount of ideas presented to you with one click?
Some of my favorites:
- Bleeding hearts (sounds gross, looks awesome)
- Puzzle pieces
- Falling hearts
- Hot air balloon hearts
- A pun-ny valentine
- Harry Potter themed
Fully equipped with ideas, now comes the fun part.
I used a mix of glitter, stickers, washi tape, and paint. One technique I just 'discovered' (aka read in a magazine) was to write on a card with a white crayon and paint watercolors over the crayon, so that your message comes through the paint. So easy, and so pretty!
Please don't leave me.
